Winnie Harlow and Shannon Hamilton for Fendi #BFF

Pioneering international ubermodel and activist Winnie Harlow and Jamaican sensation Shannon Hamilton are the stars of the latest episode of Fendi’s most fashionable of ‘soap operas’, Baguette Friends Forever.  The long-running BFF series is the clever episodic marketing campaign the famous Italian fashion house has been using to highlight its Baguette series of bags and purses.  One of the obvious benefits of employing such an extended strategy is they can keep enlisting the services of fashion A-listers from all over the world to underwrite the sense of premium desirability on an ongoing basis.  No need to try and put all your eggs in one seasonal basket when you can just keep refilling it whenever you want to, is there?

The episodic ‘re-up’ nature of the campaign is one of the reasons the BFF series has been so successful for Fendi.  At a certain point people start anticipating which one of their favourite stars or fashion icons are going to appear next and, as a consequence, they jump on new entries like they used  to jump on new episodes of Game of Thrones (before GoT unfortunately morphed into Transformers, of course).  Previous episodes have featured fashion influencers Miki Tang and Iwka and others have featured a whole slew of influencers and famous names in one instalment.

In the latest instalment, Winnie finds herself ready to enjoy a day in sunny Miami after a conversation with her sadly out-of-town BFF, Shannon.  Winnie starts her day by sampling the top notes at the Fendi Frensia room – Fendi bags infused with perfume scents by Parisian perfume brand, Maison Francis Kurkdjian – when she’s pleasently surprised by the genie-like appearance of Shannon.  And, as the old saying goes, the rest is history.  Now they’re able to fulfil their wish of spending the day together and we follow them as they take in Ocean Drive with the top down and the wind in their hair.  It’s only when Winnie returns to her car at the end of the day does she discover the other surprise waiting for her.  It really doesn’t take a genius to figure out what surprise that will be.  Hint: it will make you wish for a friend like Shannon!
