Head to Toe – New Accessories A/W19

Two major designers offer some accessories solutions to those inbetweenie days transitioning from summer to autumn

We’ve all been there.  Those days between September and December when you wake up in the morning with the sun streaming through the window fooling you into making what you’ll eventually realise were the wrong decisions for your wardrobe.  Suddenly that morning sunshine doesn’t feel quite so welcoming when you’re freezing and/or soaking on the street a few hours later.  Dressing for English weather has honestly become a skill unto itself.

Fortunately, Chloé and Stella McCartney are releasing some accessories for the new A/W19 season that will help your mornings flow a little easier in those circumstances.  Fashionable and practical are always treasured combinations when unpredictability is the main concern, right?

For your head (or face, specifically), ultra-chic French fashion house Chloé brings us a range of new sunglasses called the ‘Ayla’ collection.  These glasses have been fashioned (pun intended) to resemble the half-lens reading glasses of your mother’s old headmistress.  The slim gold metal design frames delicate yellow or pink lenses that are not so opaque you’ll feel foolish if you continue to wear them during the many times the English sun disappears behind a cloud on an average autumn day.  Of course, there’s nothing wrong with your accessories providing a pop of warm colour on a particularly drab day either.

And for your feet, Stella McCartney has teamed up with Hunter boots to produce a new collection of the iconic British Welly.  Wellington Boots are a mainstay of British winters (and, unfortunately, too many British summers) if you really want to keep your feet dry, but they’ve never exactly been easy to match with an outfit.  Manufactured from completely sustainable rubber (naturally – again, pun intended), the Stella x Hunter boots manages to kill two birds with one stone.  These aren’t accessories just for Glastonbury, and it would be a real crime to keep such fashionable footwear locked up until next summer when we have so many rainy days to look forward to between now and then.
